Where do you find one of the best film photographers in Port Stephens? Right here. Sheri has learned her trade from some of the best in the industry. Her attention to light and detail is unmatched. Best of all? She’s patient and relaxed — a delight to work with.
Sheri does fine art wedding photography in the Hunter Valley, Sydney, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Bowral, Southern Highlands, Byron Bay, and beyond.
Her work also includes interstate weddings, destination weddings and elopements from Hawaii, Thailand and New Zealand.
Sheri’s use of light and her soft approach to photography makes any couple look gorgeous. You don’t have to be a model to feel like one on your wedding day.

How would most of the couples you’ve worked with describe your wedding day personality, Sheri?
Actual words from past brides:
- “We found Sheri to be relaxed, friendly and easy-going and highly professional”
- “The experience with Sheri was amazing, she was so calm and patient”
If this is what you’re looking for in a wedding photographer, I’m so thrilled you have found me! I know we will be a perfect fit.
What’s the number one thing you always do or recommend when couples are nervous in front of the camera?
It’s more than okay to feel nervous! Please know that I do not expect you to be models. My job is to direct you in a way that helps you relax, feel natural, and be your true comfortable selves in front of my lens. You do not need to practice poses, study Pinterest pins or let the nerves take over.
If we can organise an engagement session, I highly recommend this. You not only get to document this important milestone, but it’s also a great way for you to see how I work, and for me to see how you interact with each other. By the end of the session, you’ll feel like Tyra Banks and wonder when your big break in modelling will come! Don’t worry if you’re feeling nervous, I’ll be sure the end result is something you will love!
Do you usually meet with couples prior to their wedding day?
Absolutely! If we live closeby, we’ll organise a day and time to meet for a coffee/tea and discuss your wedding plans and day together. I’m fully involved with my clients, and most of my brides message me once a week with their plans and vision, ask me questions and my thoughts on the styling, etc. I’m here for the whole journey. It’s rare that we haven’t met before the day. Even with destination weddings or interstate, I arrive a good day before so that we can meet up at the venue to scope things out together.
Do you offer engagement photoshoots or any other type of photoshoot before the wedding?
Sure do and these are my favourite sessions! Engagement shoots, lifestyle indoors, intimate inside sessions, and bridal boudoir. A boudoir shoot is perfect as a surprise gift for your partner as well as experiencing an empowering moment of appreciation to your body.
What types of wedding photo albums do you offer?
When it comes to choosing your albums, I choose only the finest. Beautifully custom-crafted from fine archival grade materials from a professional print lab, offering you a lifetime heirloom wedding album that will be passed down for generations.
Do you shoot film or digital?
I’m a hybrid photographer meaning, I shoot film and digital. Film is my go-to for all those intimate, romantic moments and details. WHY? It captures light and skin tones perfectly and creates these dreamy, timeless images my clients love. Digital has its place too, and with a balance and workflow for both, I create a gallery of heirloom images for you.
Do you usually work alone or with a second shooter and/or photography assistant?
90% of the time I have my assistant with me, and if required and specified, a second shooter. This is optional and to the discretion of the couple after we’ve discussed this option with you. Each wedding is unique in its own way, and some smaller intimate weddings don’t require having a second shooter, so we suggest investing this money into an album or engagement session instead.
Can you tell us whose photography inspires you?
My all-time idols in the photography realm are all film shooters. Having learnt from one of them is a real dream: Erich McVey. The other photographers I’m inspired by are Jose Villa, KT Merry and Lauren Fair. You must check out their work — you’ll see why I fell in love with the medium of film!
What are your favourite local photography locations in and around Sydney?
This one if hard, as I have such a broad range of places I love to shoot, and this all depends on the couple I’m working with. To name a few:
- The beaches of Port Stephens (love!)
- Karnell clifftop in Sydney
- The iconic Sydney Opera House & Botanic Gardens
- Historic Homes in Bowral & the Southern Highlands
